Pagan-run Thrift Store “Hestia’s Home & Hearth Thrift” Set to Launch November 1.

Troy, Michigan — October 14, 2025 — A new thrift shop guided by principles of community, ethical reuse, and Pagan stewardship is opening its doors online this November. Hestia’s Home & Hearth Thrift invites both the Pagan community and the wider public to support circular living while empowering spiritual values and charitable giving.

Named for Hestia, goddess of hearth, home, and hospitality, the venture aims to weave together sustainability, spiritual connection, and social good. The store offers second-hand furniture, home décor, books, ritual supplies, clothing, and more—donated by community members and carefully curated to reflect quality, inclusivity, and intention.

Key Features & Mission

  • Spiritually Aligned Thrift: Hestia’s Home & Hearth Thrift is run by Pagans for the whole community, integrating respect for natural cycles and sacred space into ordinary living.
  • Circular Economy + Community Benefit: By diverting usable goods from landfills and redirecting proceeds to community causes, the store emphasizes ecological responsibility.
  • Supporting Pagan & Underserved Communities: A portion of profits will be reinvested in Pagan community initiatives, local charities, and programs supporting marginalized populations.
  • Curated Collections: Beyond typical thrift fare, the store plans to offer ethically sourced ritual tools, altar accoutrements, spiritually themed art, and unique home items aligned with occult or metaphysical interests (where appropriate).
  • Outreach & Education: Alongside retail, Hestia’s plans to co-host workshops, repair/repurpose clinics, and community gatherings on green living, sustainability, and spiritual crafts in conjunction with their parent organization, Spiral Moon Family Circle.

Launch Event & Highlights

To inaugurate the opening, a launch event is planned for November 2nd, at 1 pm, online via their website. Highlights include:

  • A digital ribbon cutting with the support of the Pagan Chamber of Commerce
  • Discounted preview shopping for virtual attendees
  • Meet-and-greet with the founding team

Quote from the Founder / Director

“We believe every item has a story worth continuing. Our Pagan-run thrift store is dedicated to sustainability, community, and care.” said Janet Callahan. “Hestia’s Home & Hearth Thrift is more than a store—it’s an expression of stewardship, community, and the belief that everyday items can carry sacredness. We welcome everyone who shares that vision, whether Pagan or simply eco-minded, to join us in building something grounded, meaningful, and sustainable.”

How to Support & Get Involved

  • Donate items — furniture, décor, books, art, ritual supplies, and other gently used goods, accepted by appointment only
  • Shop intentionally — explore the selection of preloved items via the website
  • Volunteer — until a physical location is available, help is needed at community events and with outreach
  • Spread the word — share the launch on social media, in your spiritual circles, among eco-conscious friends
